Pure Music - I'm not as familiar with this one. It's capable of DSD playback to the TEAC using DoP.Ĥ.

Bit-perfect from the start so I didn't fool with any of the default settings.

I measured the beta 18.0.177 build for this test.
JRIVER MEDIA CENTER 21 BITSTREAMING FOR MAC
JRiver Media Center for Mac - Well known media player originating from the Windows world. Also, I have SysOptimizer turned on (disables Spotlight, Time Machine, some USB tweaks).ģ. For these tests, I'm using Direct, Integer Mode with memory playback to the TEAC. They also talk about 64-bit processing which is great if one has need for the SRC and dithering (iZotope-based).

Since the software supposedly bypasses CoreAudio, I would have thought that "Integer Mode" would be an obvious given. "Under the hood", it's also got some extra features like memory playback, "Direct Mode" apparently bypassing CoreAudio as well as "Integer Mode". Able to handle DSD files with DST and was able to play DSD64 and DSD128 over the USB interface to my TEAC UD-501 without problem. Audirvana Plus: Current version is 1.4.6. I upgraded to the latest version 1.2.11 for these tests. As with all the commercial offerings, it can switch sample rate automatically. It's able to take exclusive access of the audio device, and memory playback. It's a no-nonsense program that plays a nice range of file formats without fuss. Decibel: I bought this program more than a year ago. Do they sound the same if set to bit-perfect output? Let's have a look at the candidates I'll be considering here:ġ. There is no redundancy.Īny room correction/bass management or similar setup that the AVR can do will still be used, or you could put the AVR in Direct Sound mode and have the room correction and sound management done in JRiver.Over the last few years, the list of "audiophile" audio players on the Mac has gradually increased. On most AVRs the display will read something like "Multichannel PCM" or "PCM 7.1" or such). Your AVR will not try to decode PCM (no DTS-HD light comes on. If you are not Bitstreaming, the JRiver audio engine will process the audio and decode it into PCM then send it to your AVR. When you bitstream you send the audio untouched to your AVR where the AVR then decodes it and turns it into PCM for playback (and the DTS-HD light, or whatever format light on your AVR turns on). Also you probably want to use the DSP feature "Volume Leveling and maybe the Adaptive Volume, depending on your listening preferences. Bitstreaming bypasses all of the JRiver audio processing. If you are going to be watching movies, you want to use the "VideoClock" option at Tools>Options>Video.
JRIVER MEDIA CENTER 21 BITSTREAMING HOW TO
How to make sure that the audio is bitstreamed to the DAC, the audio signal being untouched? for audio only: MC is setup to use the ASIO interface of the external DAC (audio class 2.0). is there an option to set units to meters instead of feet within the interface? is MC21 capable of handling two subwoofers separately? (or will it be in a future release) A multichannel DAC should be enough, isn't? Beside e28 are there other brands that are known to be working well with MC? It seems to me that having MC driving a receiver a bit overkilling. But how to make this processing not redundant with the receiver audio processing functions? Then Bitstreaming should be set to none and MC will assume the decoding and audio processing. Option 2: say I’d like to use all the power of the MC21 DSP. Shall I set Bitstreaming to HDMI in Audio options? Does that imply that all MC DSP functions are unavailable in that mode? Option 1: say that I want MC pass the audio untouched to the receiver. I want to make sure I understand the various options here. I understand that MC can decode the audio part as well as the receiver obviously. I have read the wiki and various posts on how to set up MC audio and I’m still a bit confused. A receiver (Emotiva XMC-1) will be connected to the GC HDMI output.

JRIVER MEDIA CENTER 21 BITSTREAMING WINDOWS 10
I'm currently using MC21 on a Windows 10 PC with a GTX 950 card.
